Asthma Management in Schools
Asthma affects 6.2 million school-age children in the US causing 13.8 million missed school days. Poorly controlled asthma may impair a child’s ability to attend school, affect academic performance, and cause parents to miss work to care for an ill child. This course will provide an overview of current issues, challenges, and solutions in asthma management in school. Topic areas include medication delivery, delegation of care, Asthma Action Plans (AAP), current information on HFA inhalers and spacers and strategies for effective parent/ guardian collaboration and communication.
